As with most of my original works, I create titles for them based on expressions and euphemisms in  life.
I cherish the English language and all it's eccentricities.
Expressions often make you laugh out loud (many southern sayings' come to mind), bring comfort in times of difficulty and often represent language of a bygone era that can still be applied to every day situations, giving the expression more color and personality--just like my paintings!
 
This one is titled "The Long and Short of It" because I began this painting over a year ago. I would pick it back up and put it down, redo the color scheme, add more texture, change my mind....it was a long and winding road to get the the end, so as they say the long and the short of it is---I love where it ended up! This expression if often used when someone is a bit longwinded in telling a story----the long and the short of it is.....getting to the point.
 
If you are a storyteller this would make a great conversation piece in your home.
